The best hotels in the world to get naked

By Alison Godfrey

Royal Zambezi Lodge Zambia
This is the view from the Royal Zambezi Lodge Zambia. Imagine watching this from your bathtub.

PRINCE Harry famously bared the crown jewels to Vegas from the window of his hotel room. Admit it, you want to do it too.
Some hotels are better than others to get your gear off. So here we've scoured the world and found the best hotels to go naked. Even if you are a prude, some of these will inspire you to ditch the dacks for a while.

Imagine a copper freestanding bathtub where you can watch the hippos and elephants. The stuff of dreams? No it’s real at the Royal Zambezi Lodge in Zambia.
The Deluxe Suites features a bath and a private plunge pool and a shower on the balcony overlooking the Zambezi River. If you can’t afford to take the deluxe option you could always book a classic room and a treatment at the spa. After a massage you can take a dip in the plunge pool or outdoor spa and watch the resident flora and fauna strut their stuff in the river.

The Arcana Izu Japan's Izu Peninsula
Rated at four to five stars by travellers on TripAdvisor this hotel is probably one of the best places to get naked on our list.
Every room in this hotel comes with a private open-air hot-spring bath or onsen on the balcony.
Inside the rooms enormous floor to ceiling windows enable you to look out onto the Japanese forest. And there’s an open fireplace to let your skin dry off after your dip in the onsen. Why bother packing clothes?

THEhotel at Mandalay Bay on The Strip, Las Vegas, Nevada
It looks just like any other Vegas hotel. A casino, rooms with an amazing view and a pool. But it’s the “Toptional™ beach” at Moorea Beach Club that gets this hotel onto the list. It’s so good apparently that they have trade marked it.
Located on a perch overlooking the sprawling Mandalay Bay Beach complex the Morea Beach club is described as a “private, sophisticated European bathing experience”.
The hotel offers cushioned chaise lounges, poolside massage services, private dipping pools and the most attentive personal attendants in Las Vegas. And the best news – no kids or teens. You have to be 21 to enter.

The Banyan Tree Bangkok
The Banyan Tree makes five stars look like three. The service and the food are simply amazing. And if you want to experience a bit of nudity, their spa is certainly the space to strip off.
Located on the 21st floor of tower two, the spa showers have the most incredible view over the city of Bangkok. One wall of the shower is in fact the window. If you are a little prudish, don’t worry – you can look out, but people can’t see in.
And if you feel peckish after your little display of freedom, the Vertigo restaurant will certainly get your blood running. It’s an open air restaurant on top of the building. Clothing must be worn here though.

Andaz San Diego, San Diego, California, USA
This hotel is another of Prince Harry's favourites. It offers a “sex kit” with condoms, massage oil and a vibrator.
If you’re really keen on having a good time we suggest booking the two-bedroom Andaz Star Suite. The shag-piled master bedroom has king-size bunk beds, a mirrored ceiling and a stripper pole. Yes, a stripper pole.
Sandiego Andaz Hyatt

Fleming House, Goldeneye, Jamaica
If the title hasn’t given it away, this hotel is the ultimate place to indulge in a little James Bond fantasy. The three bedroom house built on a cliff overlooking Oracabessa Bay on the Jamaica’s north coast was designed by Ian Fleming, author of the James Bond novels. It’s here that he wrote all 17 books.
Flemming House is the most luxurious property at the Goldeneye resort. It features a signature GoldenEye claw foot tub, outdoor shower and even an outdoor sink. If that doesn’t fit your budget the four other villas on the estate still have suitably Bond Girl names such as Vesper, Domino and Solitaire. If you can’t get naked here, where can you?

Reethi Rah Resort the Maldives
The One&Only Reethi Rah is home to 130 private villas discreetly placed along the shore. The best for stripping off have to be the Water Villas set above the clear, protected waters of the lagoon.
Netting suspended like hammocks from its edges are perfect for breezy topless sunbathing and each villa has steps into the ocean for a cheeky private skinny dip.

W hotel New York
If you’re going to be in Times Square on New York, this hotel is fantastic for watching the ball drop. Or dropping your own dacks.
Live out a Gossip Girl fantasy in the Extreme WOW suite - yes, that is what it is called. The room features a wraparound outdoor terrace complete with a pool table, a sprawling daybed and cedar cocoon chairs.
Inside there is a marble-topped wet bar where you can mix your own cocktails and when you fancy a pajama-less lie down rest comfortably in the king-sized W bed with silky 350-thread count linens and goose-down comforter.

Royal Davui resort Fiji
A bed, a pool, and nothing but blue ocean. That’s the Royal Davui Resort in Fiji. Wake up to the sound of the waves. Have a skinny dip in your private plunge pool before breakfast. It’s pricey, sure. But it’s so relaxing it’s worth it.
Royal Davui Island resort
Fancy a skinny dip? Royal Davui Island resort in Fiji. Picture: Royal Davui Island resort

The Adelphi Hotel Melbourne
OK, so this one might not be exactly legal nudity, but it’s worth a shot. The Adelphi Hotel in Melbourne features a lap pool on the roof that overhangs the city. You could skinny dip high above the crowds and no-one would know. We didn’t tell you to do it though.

Tamarind Resort Maleny Australia
We’re told this resort has a track leading down to a rainforest waterfall. If you get down there early enough you will have the place to yourself and can shower naked with only the birds to watch.

Hotels and resorts jumping on the nudist bandwagon after the Prince Harry hotel incident offering close option activities for guests from high risers looking over a city to resorts with hot spring baths on private balconies and for nudist who want a few extras like a stripper pole and a sex kit in your room, at the Andaz in San Diago. These hotels are being innovative advertising how you can bare all I think it is an interesting keeping up with current events offering relaxation I’m not so sure what the sex kit would be of much use to anyone but a good laugh though.

Five Best: Cave hotels

Try a taste of prehistoric living - with all mod cons. Rhiannon Batten goes underground

Les Hautes Roches, France

At this former monastery turned upmarket retreat on the banks of the Loire, 12 of the 15 lavish rooms are set in caves. However, even if you get one of the three "ordinary" rooms, you don't have to go without the troglodyte experience altogether, since the hotel's bar is also set into the rock. When you want to come up for air, this Relais & Châteaux property also features a sunny terrace, pool and restaurant.
Les Hautes Roches, 86 Quai de la Loire, Rochecorbon, France (00 33 2 47 52 88 88; www.leshautesroches.com). Doubles start at €135 (£93), room only.

The Caves, Jamaica
Definitely the world's grooviest cave hotel, The Caves belongs to Island Records founder Chris Blackwell's portfolio of Caribbean properties. Brightly coloured bohemian decor, a great, all-day, food and drinks list and the most chilled-out atmosphere this side of Alaska are all part of the package. While the guest cottages are all above ground, the hotel is built around a cave-peppered outcrop, dropping directly into the sea. Cool off by swimming in and out of the caves below. Otherwise book in for a massage in the Aveda spa or grab a candlelit table at the hotel's cave restaurant for a dinner to remember.
The Caves, Lighthouse Road, Negril, Jamaica (00 800 688 76781; www.islandoutpost.com). Cottages start at $515 (£286), all-inclusive.
 Cliffs at The Caves
Cappadocia Cave Suites, Turkey
The rooms at this romantic cave hotel are dubbed "fairy chimneys", which isn't stretching the imagination too much. From churches to houses, so many of the buildings in this historic region of Turkey are set into the rock - some so deep that whole cities have developed underground - that the landscape looks completely otherworldly. If you want to try Flintstone living for yourself, Cappadocia Cave Suites is a former hay barn, restored in the 1990s and now serving as a boutique hotel, with 18 atmospheric rooms.
Cappadocia Cave Suites, Gafferli Mah Unlu Sokak 19, Goreme, Turkey (00 90 384 271 2800; www.cappadociacavesuites.com). Doubles start at $150 (£86), including breakfast.

Alexander's, Greece
Set in the picturesque village of Oia on the island of Santorini, Alexander's has taken the idea of the traditional cave house and given it a modern twist. The architecture is still reassuringly Cycladic in style, however, (white-washed walls and domed roofs) and the décor features a mix of antique wooden furniture. There's no forgetting where you are when you step outside. From the hotel's terrace the view spins out over sugarcube houses clinging to the rock and the sun setting over the sea.
Alexander's, Santorini, Greece (00 30 228 607 1818; www.alexandershotel.com). Cave houses start at €85 (£47), including breakfast.

Desert Cave Hotel, Australia
Not so much a hotel as the world's most luxurious mine shaft, the Desert Cave opened in Coober Pedy in 1988, making excellent use of the underground climate. That isn't as radical as it sounds - the local opal miners had been living below ground for years, gladly escaping the outback heat. Today's guests don't have to rough it, though. The hotel's 50 suites all have TV and internet and, although a little dated now, were cleverly designed to reflect the landscape. If you think you might get cabin fever, the hotel also has rooms above ground.
Desert Cave Hotel, Coober Pedy, South Australia (00 61 886 725 688; www.desertcave.com.au). Doubles start at AUS$192 (£81), room only.

The five best cave hotels are all very unique from a French monastery turned up market retreat on the banks of the Loire to the worlds grooviest cave hotel in Jamaica and also showing the desert cave hotel in Australia that is actually in a mine. It would be interesting and exciting to stay in a cave for the night but these cave hotels are far from the resembling the Flintstones with the desert cave hotel offering internet and T.V in there 50 suites accommodations they offer restaurants bars and spas for their guests. I think these caves make for very cool hotels to stay giving a guest a unique natural experience that is also comfortable.

Luxury dog hotel to open in New York

By Brigitte Dusseau

An expansive bed with soft pillows, a flat-screen TV, a gym and chef-crafted meals - at New York's first luxury hotel for dogs, opening in a few weeks, nothing's too good for man's best friend.

The hotel in Manhattan's Chelsea neighbourhood aims to ensure "the dog is getting the same quality as a human being does," explained one of its three co-owners, Shawn Hassanzadeh.

"As a New Yorker, when you go on vacation, and you stay in a fabulous hotel, with fabulous services, your dog is staying in a fabulous hotel with fabulous services," Mr Hassanzadeh said.

Only the two fanciest suites will offer double beds - but even the smaller "standard" rooms will have televisions and, in some, DVD players, in case the dog's owner wants to bring a special show or a compilation of family photos.

"A lot of parents find that when a dog stays at home alone, TV keeps them company," a second co-owner, Kerry Brown, explained.

Also available, for any holidaying canine looking to stay in shape: a gym, equipped with personal trainers and two treadmills.

"Some will take to (the treadmills), other don't, but it's nice to be able to have them," said another co-owner Kerry Brown.

Three playgrounds - where pooches will be separated according to size and strength - will also help keep Fido in fine form.

And for any who prefer a more traditional energy outlet, the hotel offers walks in the city - just $US15 ($A14.32) extra a day for a 15 minute stroll.

As in any luxury establishment, the hotel has a day spa, offering the ministrations of Ali McLennan, a groomer of Animal Planet television fame.

And if the "parents" don't have time for the drop off, the hotel will take care of it. They'll swing by to pick up the beloved furball in a 4WD or, if it appeals, a Lamborghini.

The pet resort concept, born in Hollywood with the first D Pet Hotel four years ago, aims to offer "a home away from home for dogs," Brown said.

"We thought, what a perfect thing for New York," she added, "where we've got tonnes of people who are working, tonnes of people who are travelling."

Standard rooms will cost $US79 ($A75) a day, while the luxury suites will go for $US200. Extras range from the $US15 walk, to a $US9 room service meal, and an $US80 "full treatment" at the spa.

While that might seem steep in a country where with a troubled economy and persistently high unemployment, Brown insists "it is very reasonable."

"When it comes to taking care of your pet, which most people see as their kids, you want to make sure every detail is taken care of well," she noted.

"And we make sure every detail is taken care of. It is a lot of effort."

It’s true that the rich and famous live comfortably and can afford the best for themselves, but when mans best friend becomes involved (canines) developers see a rare and unusual opportunity to create the world’s first luxury hotel for dogs. Owners will be able to ensure that their dog is getting the same treatment as themselves in the hotel with services such as meals cooked by the finest New York chefs, flat screen TV’s, gyms where the dogs can increase their strength and personal trainers on hand. The hotel will cost around $100 AUS a day for the most basic rooms and services with the prices soaring up to $300 for executive suites and extra services.
My personal opinion is the Hotel is a stupid concept and anyone who would rather send their dog to a luxury hotel rather than donate it to charity is out of their mind. Whilst the world is still battling hunger and sanitation issues some people are so ditzy they would rather spend their money on ensuring that their dog has a pedicure.

Crown Lager now on tap

Crown Lager is now available on tap at selected bars across the country, in what group marketing manager Richard Oppy describes as an exciting step for the brand.

In a statement issued by Crown, the beer brand explains that its product can now be delivered from a tap which controls the flow rate of the beer into a specially designed glass, using nucleated technology to ensure compact and lasting foam.
"The larger head size will deliver maximum flavour and aroma," the statement reads.
Group marketing manager for Crown Lager, Richard Oppy said, "Crown Lager is Australia's highest selling, Australian premium beer and so we're thrilled to be able to offer the Crown Lager experience fresh from the tap.
"It's an exciting next step for the brand and we look forward to consumers sharing Crown Lager draught in those celebratory moments that matter," he said.
Crown Lager Draught will be available at selected bars, restaurants, hotels and sports clubs Australia-wide. RRP is $7 for a 300ml serve.

Crown lager is Australia’s number one selling premium lager beer and has been for almost now 100 years. With such strong relevance to the hospitality industry it is quite a surprise to know that this beer cannot be found on tap in bars and pubs across the country. Until now that is, this article discusses Crown Lagers exciting new step to help broaden their market of beer drinkers and sell more of the product. The article further discusses that new technology will be used in the beer to help enhance the head of the beer when poured into a specially designed 300ml crown glass. A typical pot in Australia is 285ml and sells roughly around $4 a pot. The 300ml Crown glass will be selling for a RRP of $7. This higher price than regular beer also promotes the fact that the beer is still premium and higher class aiming towards an older wealthy market.
